Countdown to 20: Year 2001

It's the year 2001....

You’re still tuning into MTV’s Total Request Live to watch the hottest music videos, Apple released its first iPod (who remembers that brick?!), Britney Spears’ legendary dance with a python happened, she and JT were still the it couple (who can forget those matching denim outfits?) and Lifehouse’s Hanging by a Moment topped the charts.

The silver screen was introduced to a boy named Harry Potter, the average movie ticket price was only $5.66, The Fast and the Furious franchise debuted (and is still going strong today!) and Friends was the most popular show on television (raise your hand if you had the Rachel haircut!).

2001 was a big year for Ascedia. We moved into our first office space on East Buffalo Street in Milwaukee’s Third Ward and tackled several website design projects. Below are some highlights from our work that year:

Milwaukee Area Technical College
We partnered with MATC to build a software portal for students to buy software with an educational discount.

Wisconsin State Fair Website
We built a web presence from scratch for Wisconsin State Fair and did it in less than two weeks!

Green Bay Convention and Visitors Bureau
We collaborated with Boelter + Lincoln to create the Green Bay CVB website, GreenBay.com/PackerCountry.com.

Wheelchair Recycling Project
We partnered with this non-profit to create a website that helped disadvantaged people obtain a wheelchair at a reasonable price.

Norwegian Wooden Boat Company
We created a product design website for this custom boat building company.

Stay tuned! We're counting down to our official 20th birthday in September by reliving our company’s history one year at a time and celebrating the clients, projects and employees that got us to where we are today.
